She is an intellectual and an activist, author of many books and articles on war and peace (including “New and Old Wars: Organized Violence in a Global Era”), founder of Helsinki Citizens' Assembly.
* we coin the term "grassroots peacebuilding" as the umbrella for a variety of connected topics: civic facilitation, antiwar activism, reconciliation work, dialogues, collective trauma healing, memory studies… Simultaneously we want to highlight that it’s not about official diplomatic negotiations, but rather what can empower many people and communities locally – including on the opposing sides – to act for peace.
Format
Regular online workshops once a month with speakers from around the world sharing their perspective and experience.
We also plan interactive facilitated sessions in between the workshops, where we could network, reflect on the material and process the insights into some ideas to be implemented on the ground.
